Heavily influenced by metal bands like Meshuggah, Car Bomb, and Gojira and simultaneously informed by American and European jazz traditions, Yawn is blazing a trail with their unique style of music, drawing their aesthetic from modern progressive metal by using loud 8-string guitars, dynamic drumming, and acrobatic rhythms. Their compositions extend the innovations of jazz music by employing open forms, free improvisation, and thematic development.
